Taking Care of Your Jewelry
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver may darken or tarnish with normal wear. We offer free re-polishing services for all pieces from Liwen Orfèvrerie. For pieces that are not from Liwen Orfèvrerie, please email liwen.orfevrerie@outlook.com for more information.
• Wipe silver jewelry with a polishing cloth. Avoid rubbing the cloth on semi-precious stone surfaces. Never submerge your jewelry in a liquid cleaner.
• Always avoid contact with chemicals, such as hair spray and perfume, household cleaners, pool chemicals and saline. Put your jewelry on after your perfume and hair spray are dry.
• Do not swim or bathe while wearing your jewelry.
• Keep jewelry away from extreme heat, humidity, or sunlight for prolonged periods.
• Store your jewelry in a sealed bag. Keep pieces separate to avoid scratch marks.
• Do not store pearls in sealed bags, they need to breathe. Wipe them clean after wearing them as they could retain body oils and eventually stain or change color.
Gold-Plated Jewelry
Gold plated jewelry may darken or tarnish with normal wear. If needed, we offer re-plating services, please send an email to liwen.orfevrerie@outlook.com for more info.
• Gently wipe the metal surface with a soft cloth to clean, however, excessive polishing may rub off or scratch the plating.
• Avoid direct contact with water, soaps lotions, perfumes or oils.
Adjustable Jewelry
For open or adjustable pieces such as bangles, chokers or rings, avoid repeatedly bending open and closing them.
• Adjust the piece once to your preferred fit and then slide or gently force it on each time you wear it.
• Frequent bending will weaken the metal over time and will cause it to break.
